Sometimes it makes me wonder , how the whole institution of journalism has become just a joke ! Giving voice to the unheard and ignored has become amplifying the loudest rant ...how insane !
A bunch of presstitutes represent today's media and the entire society by large ! How easy it is to pass a derogatory comment on Indian culture/caste system/feminism and be in the limelight for a week .And surprisingly it is equally easy to publish a contradicting or rather challenging statement for the previous one and become popular.
Day by day , the news we come across seems so ironical ; Irony is that a girl who was praised for her courage and strength for facing eve teasing on road ,turns out to be the one at fault the very next day. Irony is that a lady lawyer surrenders herself for causing an accident for which media slammed a minister till then. Irony is that a person who hasn't been recognized as a Member of Parliament for years now , suddenly becomes a leader after showing his talent in poetry and emotional speech. Irony is when media encourages people to fight over religious beliefs rather than asking the if sending meat samples for testing makes any sense in a mob killing case. Irony is that, a wardrobe malfunction takes up more space and attention than a National level sports player's hunger.
For a person like me,who believes in progress and elevation of journalism,it becomes extremely difficult to open up a news app or watch an entire debate without swearing all along. It becomes almost impossible to believe that an editorial is unbiased. Media is stated as fourth pillar of democracy for a reason and there are lots of people ,who look out for intellectual articles in newspapers. Media that paves a way for policy making , media that resembles the nation's integrity , media that respects privacy of people , media that supports the growth of the country economically, socially and culturally is what we need. Hope media persons realise this thing...the sooner the better.
